Span set to play catch, test shoulder

MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins center fielder Denard Span was held out of the lineup for a third straight game Wednesady, three days after injuring his right shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch.

The Twins remain hopeful Span will be able to avoid the disabled list, but he has yet to swing the bat since suffering the injury. He visited a chiropractor on Tuesday.

"He's getting his treatment," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He's supposed to stand in on some bullpens and play some catch today."

With Span out, Ben Revere made his third straight start in center field, with Darin Mastroianni starting in right field for a third consecutive game.
