Twins claim outfielder Jordan Schafer off waivers from Atlanta

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have claimed outfielder Jordan Schafer off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. In 63 games with the Braves this season, Schafer hit .163 (13-for-80) with four doubles, two RBI, 10 walks and nine runs scored.

The 27-year-old was originally drafted by Atlanta in the third round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft. He has hit .222 (243-for-1093) with 40 doubles, eight triples, 11 home runs, 67 RBI, 130 walks, 88 stolen bases and 145 runs scored in 395 career games in parts of five seasons with Atlanta and Houston.

The Twins will make a corresponding roster move prior to Tuesday's game vs. San Diego. Schafer will join the team in Minnesota and be in uniform for Tuesday night's game against San Diego. He will wear uniform number 1.
