Twins Holiday Week of Giving plans

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Twins announced plans for the 13th annual Holiday Week of Giving, when the organization will focus on giving back to the community during the holiday season. This year's week of activities runs Monday, December 10 through Friday, December 14.

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Twins announced plans for the 13th annual Holiday Week of Giving, when the organization will focus on giving back to the community during the holiday season. This year's week of activities runs Monday, December 10 through Friday, December 14.
Each day, Twins front office staff, current and alumni players, season ticket holders and corporate partners will participate in several events benefiting a variety of community causes. A brief description of each is below:
Monday, December 10 - 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Gift wrapping for Gillette Children's at Target Field 
Volunteers will wrap presents in the Skyline Suites at Target Field, which will be given to patients and families at Gillette Children's on Tuesday as a part of the Gillette Holiday Party. Target and the Minnesota Twins are partnering to provide holiday gifts to patients and families at Gillette Children's this holiday season. 
     
Tuesday, December 11 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gillette Children's 
Twins players Byron Buxton and Trevor Hildenberger will be participating in a gift shopping spree at Target before meeting at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare for a holiday party. Volunteers will help pass out the gifts wrapped previously at Target Field, along with the new ones from Buxton and Hildenberger, to children and families at Gillette's St. Paul campus. Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare cares for patients who have some of the most complex, rare, and traumatic conditions in pediatric medicine, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, spina bifida, and hydrocephalus.
Wednesday, December 12 - 7 - 9 a.m. and 3 - 5 p.m. with PRISM at Perkins Family Restaurant
The Twins and Perkins Family Restaurant in Golden Valley will provide a free pancake meal to PRISM clients. PRISM is one of the leading providers of basic needs services in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs, and provides social services and connections that empower people to build healthy, stable lives. PRISM's programs include their Marketplace Food Shelf, housing and children's programs, and the Shop for Change Thrift Shop. Volunteers will greet, serve, and visit with the guests, while helping PRISM staff prepare take home gifts for guests in attendance.
Thursday, December 13 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with MAC-V at Target Field
At "A Home for the Holidays" MAC-V Event in partnership with WCCO-TV, volunteers will direct guests, serve meals and hand out gift bags to veterans and their families. The "Home for the Holidays" event will connect homeless veterans with service providers such as medical care resources, registering for assistance and shelter programs. Each veteran will also receive a meal. Last year, MAC-V comprehensively served 1,810 veterans and their families throughout Minnesota who were homeless or experiencing a crisis that could lead to homelessness. Twins mascot T.C. Bear and former Twins player Justin Morneau will accompany volunteers at this event.
Friday, December 14 - 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Animal Humane Society 
Volunteers for this event will help the shelter staff prepare with opening for the day - this includes cleaning and organizing the adoption floor, while working with shelter doctors and staff. The Animal Humane Society cares for more than 23,000 companion animals in need and helps thousand more through programs for people and pets. Their mission is to engage the hearts, hands, and minds of the community to help animals.
