Twins recall left-handed pitcher Kris Johnson

Option Yohan Pino to Triple-A Rochester

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Kris Johnson from Triple-A Rochester. The 29-year-old will be making his second start of the season tomorrow at Colorado. In his previous start he threw 4.1 shutout innings, allowing four hits and six walks while striking out five on May 1 vs. Los Angeles-NL, the second game of a doubleheader. Johnson made 16 starts for Triple-A Rochester this season, going 8-4, 2.75 ERA (98.1 IP, 30 ER) while striking out 83, walking 38 and holding opponents to a .214 average.

To make room for Johnson on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Yohan Pino to Triple-A Rochester. Pino made six starts for the Twins going 1-0, 4.80 ERA (15.0 IP, 8 ER).
