Twins Reinstate Nolasco, Option Pino

Option Pino to Triple-A

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco from his rehab assignment at Single-A Cedar Rapids and reinstated him from the disabled list. Nolasco was placed on the 15-day disabled list July 8 with a right elbow strain (retro July 7). Nolasco made two starts on rehab assignment with the Kernels pitching 3.2 scoreless innings in his first outing, August 5, allowing two hits with one walk and two strikeouts. In his other start, August 10, he pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and six strikeouts.

To make room for Nolasco on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Yohan Pino to Triple-A Rochester. Pino started 10 games for the Twins going 1-5, with a 5.37 ERA (55.1 IP, 33 ER), 12 walks and 44 strikeouts.
