Ft. Myers, FL - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed outfielder Max Kepler and shortstop Jorge Polanco to five-year contract extensions with club options.
Kepler, 26, played a team-leading 156 games last season, posting 30 doubles, four triples, 20 home runs, 58 RBI, 80 runs scored, 71 walks and a .727 OPS. The Berlin, Germany native was originally signed by the Twins as a 16-year-old in 2009 and has spent parts of four seasons with Minnesota, compiling 82 doubles, eight triples, 56 home runs, 190 RBI and a .730 OPS in 419 career games. In 2018, he ranked third in the American League for games played in the outfield and was the recipient of the Jim Kaat Award for Twins Defensive Player of the Year. Over the course of his contract, Kepler is guaranteed $35 million over five seasons with a club option for the 2024 season.  
Polanco, 25, played in 77 games for the Twins last season, posting 18 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 42 RBI, 38 runs scored, 25 walks and a .773 OPS. The San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic native was also originally signed by the Twins as a 16-year-old in 2009. In 288 career games with Minnesota, he has hit 64 doubles, 11 triples and 23 home runs with 147 RBI, 125 runs scored, 25 stolen bases, 87 walks and a .749 OPS. Polanco is guaranteed $25.75 million over five seasons. The club controls options for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
