Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: August 26-31

Twins to host the San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox at Target Field; Theme Nights, Giveaways, Special Events and/or Ticket Deals available for all six games

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight to wrap up a historic month of 20 home games with a two-team, six-game homestand through August 31. The Twins open the homestand tonight by welcoming the San Francisco Giants for their first-ever visit to Target Field (a three-game series through Sunday), before hosting Boston from Monday-Wednesday for the Red Sox’ lone scheduled trip to Minnesota this season.

Tickets Available

Tickets for the upcoming homestand, along with season, group and single-game tickets for the remainder of the Twins’ 2022 regular season home schedule at Target Field, are available for purchase via twinsbaseball.com, by calling 612-33-TWINS or 1-800-33-TWINS, or in-person at the Target Field Ticket Office. “Ballpark Access” tickets are available for as low as $9.

Twins Gaming Dugout (All 6 games)

The Twins and Wisdom Gaming invite fans to visit the “Twins Gaming Dugout” in the Town Ball Tavern for an opportunity play a variety of esports games, including “MLB The Show 22,” “Minecraft,” “Rocket League” and more. Open to all fans with a ticket to that day’s game, from the time gates open to the conclusion of the contest, the Twins Gaming Dugout features 10 gaming stations available on a first-come, first-served basis. Winners of a daily “MLB The Show 22” tournament will be spotlighted on the main Target Field videoboard.

Twins’ AR Experience (All 6 games)

The Twins and Minneapolis-based ARound, a shared augmented reality platform, have partnered to bring the first-of-its-kind, shared AR experience to Target Field. Using the ARound app (available via iOS or Android here), fans can point their smartphone at the field to open up a universe of multi-user AR games such as Batter Up, Blockbuster and Fishing Frenzy – all designed to be played by interfacing with the physical ballpark and fellow fans in real time.

  • Education Heroes Presented by Morrie’s: The Twins are proud to celebrate 2022 Education Heroes Marisa Preiss (June 2022), a special education coach with St. Paul Public Schools who supports teachers, students and entire buildings while creating more equity, love and kindness; and Joe Creer (August 2022), a traffic and student supervisor at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park who, as a tireless advocate for students, works with youth to meet them where they are and grow their capacity for social justice and racial equity.
  • Hennepin County Step to It Challenge: This annual competition, co-sponsored by Hennepin County, the Twins and the 25 communities of Hennepin County, promotes a sense of community and encourages people to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives. More than 2,500 participants counted over 725 million steps during the four-week competition in 2022!
  • Friday Night Fireworks Presented by Securian Financial: The seventh and final in a summer-long series of Friday Night Fireworks presented by Securian Financial will be set to songs from Marvel movies.

Saturday, August 27 vs. San Francisco Giants presented by Delta Air Lines (6:15 ­­p.m.; gates open at 4:00 p.m.)

  • FOX Saturday Baseball: Saturday’s middle game between the Twins and Giants will be a nationally-televised game as part of the FOX Saturday Baseball package.
  • Gate Giveaway – Byron Buxton Bobblehead presented by Delta Air Lines: The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a custom bobblehead of Twins All-Star centerfielder Byron Buxton, courtesy of Delta Air Lines.
  • Twins Radio Appreciation Day: The Twins will welcome more than 70 radio affiliates across the Treasure Island Baseball Network, while honoring the 11th annual John Gordon Radio Affiliate of the Year. As part of this celebration, the Twins Community Fund will donate a $5,000 grant to support the winning affiliate’s volunteer initiatives in baseball and softball organizations throughout the communities the station impacts.
  • Heart of Harmon: On the field, the late Harmon Killebrew was a baseball legend. Off the field, he was a champion for people with disabilities. His legacy of compassion lives on through the Harmon’s Heart of Baseball fundraising event, an annual day at Target Field created in 2012 to honor Harmon and to celebrate people of ALL abilities. Proceeds from the 2022 event will benefit West Metro Miracle Athletics, an adapted baseball league that plays on Harmon Killebrew Field at Bennett Family Park in Minnetonka; funds will be used to replace the surface in order to provide a safe environment for kids of all abilities to play baseball.
  • 2022 Harmon’s Heart of Baseball Award: Harmon’s widow Nita Killebrew will join Harmon’s longtime Twins teammate and now fellow National Baseball Hall of Famer Tony Oliva in presenting Harmon’s Heart of Baseball Award to Frankie Lennander of Minneapolis. When Frankie was 18 months old, his parents were told he should be prepared to use a walker for the rest of his life; a true fighter, he started walking around the age of 3, later played baseball and basketball with West Metro Miracle Athletics, became an athlete who rides his adapted bike 20 miles in an outing, and – most importantly – inspires his teammates, friends and family to believe in themselves, sharpen their skills and make their own adventures.

Barnard’s pitch will be caught by Twins Hall of Famer and frequent guest Kent Hrbek.
