Minnesota Twins homestand highlights: Friday, September 10 – Wednesday, September 15

Special 9/11 and Roberto Clemente remembrances, Armed Forces Appreciation Day, and Wild and Timberwolves Nights on tap as Twins face division rivals

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins, who at 18-16 (.529) since August 3 are tied for the fifth-best record in the American League (and 9th in the majors) over the last five weeks, are returning to Target Field for another unique homestand from tonight (Friday, September 10) through Wednesday, September 15. Thanks to a doubleheader on Tuesday, September 14 – but with a one-day detour to New York for a Monday, September 13 makeup contest against the Yankees – the Twins are playing seven games in six days, including six contests at home (3 against the Kansas City Royals from tonight-Sunday, followed by 3 against the Cleveland Indians next Tuesday and Wednesday).

Target Field is open to 100 percent capacity, without restrictions (please note that per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Minnesota Department of Health recommendations, fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status; masks are recommended outdoors for anyone over the age of 2 not fully vaccinated when social distancing cannot be maintained).

Twins and CUB Pharmacy Partner for In-Ballpark Flu Shots from September 10-12

The Twins, in partnership with CUB Pharmacy, will provide fans attending this weekend’s series vs. Kansas City (September 10-12) the opportunity to receive a flu shot while at Target Field, beginning when gates open and available through the seventh inning. All fans who choose to receive a flu shot at Target Field will receive a voucher good for one complimentary ticket to a future Twins regular season home game in 2021. TWINS VS. KANSAS CITY ROYALS: TONIGHT – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 (3 GAMES)

Tonight (Friday, September 10) vs. Kansas City Royals (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

  • Lee County Day presented by The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel: The Twins will celebrate beautiful Lee County, Florida, their spring training home for more than three decades, during Friday’s game.
  • Zubazpalooza: Zubazpalooza is back at Target Field! Fans who purchase this special theme night package will receive a ticket to the game, along with a pair of limited-edition, Twins-branded Zubaz pants.
  • South Dakota LLWS Team: Twins Territory was thrilled last month as the team from Sioux Falls, South Dakota advanced to the Tom Seaver Championship (semifinals) of the 2021 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Twins will welcome Mike Gorsett (manager), Devin Alfson (coach) and the entire 14-player team roster to Target Field, while honoring them on the field prior to the game.

Saturday, September 11 vs. Kansas City Royals (6:10 p.m.; gates open at 4:00 p.m.)

  • 9/11 Remembrance: On the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Twins and Royals will join Major League Baseball and all 30 clubs in remembering and honoring those we lost on that tragic day, the heroism of all who sacrificed their own lives to save others, those who died from illnesses obtained at Ground Zero, and those who continue to bravely serve our communities and country. Special pregame ceremonies are scheduled to begin at approximately 5:50 p.m. and include the below (for a complete list and details, please visit here):
  • Six wreaths commemorating the lives lost on and since 9/11, and representing Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Emergency Medical Services, U.S. Armed Forces, American Citizens and International Citizens, will be placed around the pitcher’s mound pregame; they will then be moved to the flag poles near Gate 34.
  • A special in-ballpark element will be in place throughout the game in remembrance of the 13 U.S. servicemembers killed on August 27 in an attack near the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
  • Video excerpts from “Resolute: MN Stories of 9/11 & the War,” a production of the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum, will be shown on the main Target Field videoboard.
  • Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Erik Aamoth, brother of the late Gordy Aamoth, Jr., a victim of the terror attacks on the World Trade Center, and Devin O’Brien, nephew of the late Tom Burnett, Jr., one of the brave heroes of United Airlines Flight 93.
  • A pregame flyover will feature four F-16s from the Minnesota National Guard’s 148th Fighter Wing, based out of Duluth.

  • Town Ball Night: The Twins will celebrate and honor the three state champions from the 2021 Minnesota Baseball Association (MBA) State Amateur Baseball Tournament – Air Freight Unlimited of St. Paul (Class A), the Chanhassen Red Birds (Class B) and the Sobieski Skis (Class C) – along with the East Metro Mammoth, winners of the Senior Baseball World Series. In addition to pregame on-field recognition, the winners will have their team photos showcased in Town Ball Tavern, located behind Section 229 at Target Field.
  • MLB Pitch, Hit and Run Champions: Earlier Saturday, Target Field will host the Minnesota Twins Team Championship for the 2021 MLB Pitch, Hit and Run presented by MLB Network. A total of 24 boys and girls, ages 7-14 and representing Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa, will showcase their skills. The eight age division winners (four each for baseball and softball) will be recognized on the field prior to the game.

Sunday, September 12 vs. Kansas City Royals presented by Thomson Reuters (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

  • Armed Forces Appreciation Day presented by Thomson Reuters: Throughout the game, the Twins will honor veterans and active servicemembers from all five branches of the military on the 18th annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day presented by Thomson Reuters. This year’s event will also celebrate the extraordinary efforts of the past 12 months, both at home and abroad, by the brave men and women of the Minnesota National Guard. Special pregame ceremonies are scheduled to begin at approximately 5:50 p.m. and include the below (for a complete list and details, please visit here):
  • In partnership with 3M, Twins fans in attendance will be invited to create signs in support of the U.S. Armed Forces. Outdoor craft stations will be open from the time gates open through the end of the fourth inning at Gate 29, the Digital Clubhouse and throughout the main concourse.
  • A tribute to Twins Territory servicemembers whom we have lost during the past year, including Walter B. Straka, Minnesota’s last remaining survivor of the Bataan Death March, who passed away this past July 4 at the age of 101.
  • “The Year of the Guard” video tribute will highlight the vital role Minnesota National Guard members have played over the past 12 months to serve our communities and our country.
  • A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Master Sergeant Samuel Williams of the Minnesota Army National Guard, who led a team of combat medics in training Soldiers and Airmen who provided temporary nursing assistance at long-term care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard; spouses of deployed service members; and Twins staff, Delaware North staff and Thomson Reuters staff who have served in the military will all line the outer infield lip during the National Anthem.
  • The American flag will be raised by Captain Joyce Johnson of Racine, Minnesota, a 100-year-old World War II veteran who served in active duty as part of the Eighth Air Force from June 1944 to July 1946.
  • A pregame flyover will feature three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the St. Paul and St. Cloud-based 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade.

TWINS VS. CLEVELAND INDIANS: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 – WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 (3 GAMES)

  • September 14 Doubleheader Notes: The Twins and Indians will play a split doubleheader on Tuesday, September 14, with the first game at 2:10 p.m. and the second at 6:40 p.m.; gates will open one hour before each game. Separate tickets are required for each game (tickets are available for both), and fans will be required to exit Target Field between games. Per MLB rules for 2021, both doubleheader games will be seven-inning contests.
  • The 2:10 p.m. game is a makeup of the postponed Saturday, June 26 contest. Gates will open at 1:00 p.m., and fans holding tickets from the June 26 game will be granted admittance for this game only.
  • The 6:40 p.m. game is the originally-scheduled contest. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and fans holding tickets for the originally-scheduled game will be granted admittance for this game only.
