Twins place Tyler Mahle on 15-day injured list

CHICAGO, IL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle on the 15-day Injured List with right shoulder inflammation.

Mahle exited Saturday night’s start against the White Sox in the third inning after experiencing right shoulder fatigue. He has made four starts for the Twins since being acquired at the trade deadline from Cincinnati, going 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA (16.1 IP, 8 ER), four walks, 12 strikeouts and a 1.04 WHIP. The right-hander has gone 6-8 with a 4.40 ERA (120.2 IP, 59 ER), 43 walks, 126 strikeouts and a .230 opponent batting average in 23 starts between the Twins and Reds this season.

To replace Mahle on the 28-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Jovani Moran from Triple-A St. Paul. Moran will be making his fifth stint with the Twins this season (May 2-6, May 28-June 15, June 26-August 3, August 29-September 3) and has gone 0-1 with a 2.05 ERA (26.1 IP, 6 ER), 15 walks and 36 strikeouts in 21 appearances for Minnesota
