ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 60-day Injured List.

Farrell, who has missed the Twins’ last 62 games with a right oblique strain, recently appeared in three games on rehab assignment for Triple-A St. Paul, allowing two runs on two hits in 4.1 innings pitched, with four walks and seven strikeouts. He was placed on the 10-day Injured List on June 25 (retroactive to June 23) and transferred to the 60-day list on August 27. Prior to landing on the Injured List, Farrell appeared in 13 games for the Twins over two stints, going 1-0 with a 1.76 ERA (15.1 IP, 3 ER), six walks, 17 strikeouts, a 1.17 WHIP and a .211 (12-for-57) opponent batting average.

To make room for Farrell on the Twins roster, they have optioned left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers to Triple-A St. Paul. Albers appeared in three games (2 starts) for the Twins, allowing 10 runs on 15 hits in 12.1 innings pitched with three walks and eight strikeouts.

To make room for Farrell on the 40-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Derek Law for release or assignment. Law, who was recently on rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul while recovering from right shoulder impingement, appeared in nine games for the Twins this season, allowing seven runs on 16 hits in 15.0 innings pitched with eight walks and 14 strikeouts.
