KANSAS CITY -- Tim Anderson and Nicky Delmonico both worked out with the White Sox on Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium in preparation for Thursday's 2018 season opener against the Royals (3:15 p.m. CT, live on MLB.TV).
Anderson has been working his way through right shoulder soreness, causing the shortstop to be scratched from his last Cactus League start and Monday's game against Triple-A Charlotte. Delmonico has dealt with soreness in the left hamstring/groin area.
"I've been feeling a lot better every day. Kind of been a little sore, but for the most part I feel good," Anderson said. "I think I'll be ready."

White Sox manager Rick Renteria did not announce his Opening Day lineup on Wednesday. Renteria could be waiting to see how this duo responds before making a final decision.
For Openers, it's Shields
James Shields makes his eighth Opening Day start on Thursday, marking the fourth team for whom he has held such an honor after doing the same previously for the Padres, Royals and Rays. As a former member of the Royals, Shields appreciates the raucous atmosphere expected on Thursday.
"I love this ballpark. The fans are amazing here in KC. The atmosphere is second to none," Shields said. "I've been telling the guys that the atmosphere is amazing here, especially on Opening Day.
"So I'm excited to pitch here and start the season off. We had an amazing Spring Training, and we feel really good."

Shields, or "Papa Shields" as Anderson calls him, begins his 13th big league season at age 36. He has thrown 2,411 1/3 innings over 373 games (372 starts) and takes great pride in that durability, with a strained right lat last season sending him to the disabled list for the first time in his career. He's happy with his arm condition entering the season.
"If you swing a hammer 45,000 times, you're definitely not going to feel the same as you did the first time," a smiling Shields said. "But I feel pretty good right now.
"I feel good, and I'm excited about this team. I'm excited about where we're at mentally. The chemistry that we built in Spring Training this year was in my opinion one of the best I've ever been around. I'm excited to be around here."
Pitching in
The White Sox confirmed Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez as the Saturday and Sunday starters, respectively, in the series with the Royals. Miguel Gonzalez opens action against the Blue Jays in Toronto Monday, followed by Carson Fulmer Tuesday.
