White Sox reinstate John Danks from disabled list

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. Miami, the Chicago White Sox returned left-hander John Danks from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the disabled list.

Danks, 28, is scheduled tonight to make his first major-league start since May 19, 2012, when he threw 6.1 scoreless IP in a victory at the Cubs.

Danks has been on the disabled list since March 22 to continue his recovery from left shoulder surgery on August 6, 2012. He made four rehabilitation starts in the White Sox minor-league system this season.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder was Chicago's Opening Day starter in 2012. He is 57-60 with a 4.12 ERA (472 ER/971.1 IP) over 159 career starts with the White Sox.

To make room for Danks on the active roster, the White Sox optioned left-hander Donnie Veal to Charlotte following Wednesday night's game vs. Boston.
