Tigers-White Sox has call overturned

CHICAGO -- The White Sox won their first replay challenge of the season on Wednesday in a play that involved Gordon Beckham's line drive to center with one out in the third inning against the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field.

Adam Eaton had reached base on an eight-pitch walk from Detroit starter Max Scherzer, when Beckham followed two pitches later with a sinking shot to center that one-hopped Austin Jackson. Eaton had to stop halfway to make sure the ball fell, and Jackson's throw to second originally was ruled a force out at second by umpire Jerry Layne.

On the video challenge, the call was overturned as Eaton clearly beat the throw into second. Beckham was credited with a base hit, but the White Sox did not score in the inning.
