Eloy Jiménez and Dylan Cease named Minor League Players of the Month

Class AAA Charlotte outfielder Eloy Jiménez has been named the Chicago White Sox Minor League Player of the Month for July, while Class AA Birmingham right-hander Dylan Cease has been named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members.

Class AAA Charlotte outfielder Eloy Jiménez has been named the Chicago White Sox Minor League Player of the Month for July, while Class AA Birmingham right-hander Dylan Cease has been named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members.
 
Jiménez, 21, batted .435 (27-62) with seven doubles, six home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored, a .455 on-base percentage, .839 slugging percentage and 1.293 OPS over 16 games in July with Charlotte. He hit safely in 14 of the 16 games, including a 10-game hitting streak from July 19-30. Jiménez leads the International League in batting average (.376) and ranks second in on-base percentage (.423) since his promotion on June 21.
 
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Jiménez, who also was named White Sox Minor League Player of the Month for May, is hitting .337 (103-306) with 23 doubles, two triples, 18 homers, 59 RBI, 52 runs scored, a .386 on-base percentage and .601 slugging percentage over 80 games between Birmingham and Charlotte this season. He was a 2018 Southern League midseason All-Star. 
 
Cease, 22, went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA (4 ER/30.0 IP), 42 strikeouts and a .165 (17-103) opponents average over five starts in July with Birmingham. He owns a 17.0 scoreless IP streak since July 20. Cease represented the White Sox in the 2018 All-Star Futures Game at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. on July 15, tossing 0.2 scoreless IP. 
 
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Cease is 11-2 with a 2.71 ERA (32 ER/106.2 IP), 131 strikeouts and a .201 (76-378) opponents average over 19 starts between Class A Winston-Salem and Birmingham this season. He was named to the 2018 Carolina League midseason All-Star team. Cease is tied for fifth in wins and tied for ninth in strikeouts among all minor-league pitchers this season.
