Blue Jays-White Sox game postponed
Foul weather puts off Wednesday night's scheduled matchup
With a sizable summer storm bearing down on the Midwest, Wednesday's rubber match between the Blue Jays and White Sox on the south side of Chicago was postponed nearly six hours before first pitch.
A makeup date and time will be announced at a later date.
Wednesday's postponement marks the fourth this season at U.S. Cellular Field, the most since the White Sox had five such occurrences in 2008.
Toronto and Chicago split the first two contests of the three-game set. Aside from the eventual makeup, the teams aren't scheduled to meet again this season. They split a four-game series in Toronto in April.
The Blue Jays, winners of four of six games, traveled to Texas for a four-game set with the Rangers beginning Thursday. The White Sox open a four-game series in Houston on Friday.
Wednesday's cancellation caused the White Sox to make slight alterations to their starting rotation for this weekend's wrap-around series in Houston.
Chris Sale, who was scheduled to pitch against the Blue Jays, will start Friday's opener against the Astros. He will be followed by John Danks on Saturday, Hector Santiago on Sunday and Jose Quintana on Monday evening, giving the White Sox a four-pack of southpaws in Houston. Dylan Axelrod's spot will be pushed back, and while it hasn't been announced officially, the right-hander figures to pitch Tuesday's series opener in Minnesota.
