White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Brett Myers and cash considerations from the Houston Astros in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Heidenreich, left-handed pitcher Blair Walters and a player to be named later.

The Chicago White have acquired right-handed pitcher Brett Myers and cash considerations from the Houston Astros in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Heidenreich, left-handed pitcher Blair Walters and a player to be named later.

Myers, 31, is 0-4 with a 3.52 ERA (12 ER/30.2 IP) and 19 saves over 35 games this season with Houston.  He ranks third in the National League in save percentage (90.5, 19-21) and is tied for sixth in saves.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound right-hander is 94-89 with a 4.22 ERA (776 ER/1,654.0 IP) and 40 saves over 342 career games (249 starts) in 11 major-league seasons with Philadelphia (2002-09) and the Astros (2010-12). 

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Myers is 89-79 with a 4.27 ERA (740 ER/1,560.0 IP) and 12 complete games in 249 career starts and 5-10 with a 3.45 ERA (36 ER/94.0 IP) over 93 career relief appearances.

Myers was originally selected by Philadelphia in the first round (12th overall) of the June 1999 First-Year Player Draft.

Heidenreich, 21, is 9-4 with a 3.95 ERA (49 ER/111.2 IP) over 18 starts this season with Class A Winston-Salem and Class AA Birmingham.  The 6-foot-5, 190-pound right-hander was selected by the White Sox in the 11th round of the 2009 draft.

Walters, 22, is 4-6 with a 3.96 ERA (43 ER/97.2 IP) over 18 starts this season with Class A Kannapolis and Winston-Salem.  The 6-foot, 200-pound left-hander was selected by Chicago in the 11th round of the 2011 draft.
