White Sox announce six roster moves

Prior to tonight's game at Detroit, the Chicago White Sox reinstated catcher Tyler Flowers from the Paternity Leave List, returned infielder Orlando Hudson and left-handed pitcher Leyson Septimo from their injury rehabilitation assignments at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated them from the 15-day disabled list, recalled right-handers Deunte Heath and Brian Omogrosso from Charlotte and purchased the contract of infielder Dan Johnson from Charlotte.

Flowers, 26, was placed on the paternity list on August 30 for the birth of his first child, daughter Mia Therese.

Hudson, 34, has been on the disabled list since August 17 with a contusion of the first metatarsal joint in his left foot. He appeared in five rehabilitation games with the Knights (.313, 5-16). Hudson is batting .182 (20-110) with two homers and 11 RBI over 36 games with the White Sox this season.

Heath, 27, was on Chicago's major-league roster from July 4-8 but did not pitch. He went 4-3 with a 1.48 ERA (11 ER/67.0 IP), three saves and a .190 (47-247) opponents average over 36 games (four starts) with Charlotte. Heath, who has no major-league experience, will wear uniform No. 60.

Johnson, 33, batted .267 (127-476) with 28 home runs and 85 RBI over 137 games with Charlotte in 2012. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder leads the International League in homers and walks (94), ranks second in RBI and third in on-base percentage (.388). Johnson is a career .235 (305-1,298) hitter with 53 homers and 188 RBI in 399 games over six major-league seasons with Oakland (2005-08) and Tampa Bay (2008, 2010-11). He will wear uniform No. 29.

Omogrosso, 28, is 0-0 with a 4.26 ERA (3 ER/6.1 IP) in five games with the White Sox this season. He also went 0-2 with a 4.56 ERA (24 ER/47.1 IP), nine saves and 50 strikeouts over 33 games with Charlotte.

Septimo, 27, has been on the disabled list since August 17 with left biceps inflammation. He appeared in three rehabilitation games with the Knights. Septimo is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA (6 ER/9.0 IP) in 12 games with Chicago this season.

The White Sox active roster increases to 31 and the 40-man goes to 40.
