Flowers has exploratory surgery on right shoulder

BALTIMORE -- White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers underwent exploratory surgery on his right shoulder Thursday at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

He initially injured the shoulder about a year ago and it never fully healed. The recovery period should take two to three months, White Sox officials said. Manager Robin Ventura did not offer any updates prior to Thursday's game against the Orioles.

Bryan Anderson got the start behind the plate Thursday after being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

"We're gonna get Anderson in there to see what he can do," Ventura said. "I think it's a good opportunity for him."
