In this back-and-forth slugfest, it was La Guaira who came out on top, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Carlos Sanchez, the White Sox No. 9 overall prospect, went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out RBI single. Ryan Kussmaul got the win, while Dakota Watts took the loss. Box score

Paulo Orlando went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, propelling Lara to a victory over Margarita. Robert Perez went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Chris Jakubauskas got the win, allowing two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Eric Berger took his fourth loss of the season. Box score

The only run of the game came in the top of the sixth on a throwing error by Gigantes second baseman Alexander Guerrero, giving Toros the one-run edge. That left Willy Paredes with the loss. Bruedin Suero got his first win of the season. Box score

Licey may have been outhit by Estrellas, but it got the hits when it counted. Alex Hassan's go-ahead single in the eighth put Licey ahead for good. Atahualpa Severino got his first win, while Rommie Lewis took his first loss. Box score

Mayaguez 14, Carolina 2
Mayaguez bats were on fire Friday night, with the club belting 13 hits and scoring in six different innings. Kennys Vargas led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Randy Ruiz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Box score

Santurce 2, Ponce 1

Neither team could plate a run through the first eight innings, but the ninth was a different story. Ponce scored a run in the top half of the inning, before Jonathan Rodriguez belted a two-run double to secure the win for Santurce in the bottom of the frame. Box score
