White Sox purchase contract of Scahill from Triple-A; place Kopech on 60-day DL

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech on the 60-day disabled list with an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right elbow and purchased the contract of right-hander Rob Scahill from Class AAA Charlotte.

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech on the 60-day disabled list with an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right elbow and purchased the contract of right-hander Rob Scahill from Class AAA Charlotte.
Scahill, 31, went 3-4 with a 5.64 ERA (38 ER/60.2 IP), 71 strikeouts and five saves in 52 relief appearances this season with Charlotte. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Scahill signed with the White Sox as a minor-league free agent on December 1, 2017. He is a native of Lombard, Ill., resides in Villa Park, attended Bradley University in Peoria and is a 2005 graduate of Willowbrook High School.
Scahill has made 118 career relief appearances with Colorado (2012-14), Pittsburgh (2015-16) and Milwaukee (2016-17), going 5-7 with a 3.79 ERA (61 ER/144.2 IP) and 96 strikeouts. He made a career-high 31 appearances between the Pirates and Brewers in 2016. Scahill will wear uniform No. 52.
Kopech, 22, went 1-1 with a 5.02 ERA (8 ER/14.1 IP) and 15 strikeouts over his first four major-league starts this season.
The Sox active roster remains at 30, and the 40-man roster remains at 40.
