White Sox purchase the contract of Jeanmar Gómez from Class AAA Charlotte

Prior to tonight's series finale vs. the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gómez from Class AAA Charlotte and designated right-hander Bruce Rondón for assignment.

Prior to tonight's series finale vs. the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gómez from Class AAA Charlotte and designated right-hander Bruce Rondón for assignment.
 
Gómez, 30, went 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA (9 ER/40.0 IP), two saves and 35 strikeouts in 30 relief appearances with Charlotte this season, his first in the White Sox organization after signing as a free agent on January 30. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Gómez has limited left-handed batters to a .186 (11-59) average, and opponents overall to a .135 (5-37) mark with RISP. Twenty-one of his 30 appearances were scoreless, and he struck out multiple batters nine times.
 
Gómez, who will wear uniform No. 54, has spent eight seasons in the major-leagues with Cleveland (2010-12), Pittsburgh (2013-14) and Philadelphia (2015-17), going 27-28 with a 4.39 ERA (251 ER/515.0 IP), 40 saves and 321 strikeouts over 273 games (46 starts).
