Pinstripe Bowl canceled due to COVID

November 27th, 2020

NEW YORK -- The 2020 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, originally scheduled to be played on Dec. 29 at Yankee Stadium, has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the Yankees said on Friday.

The Yankees said the move was made out of an abundance of caution, citing a recent increase in coronavirus cases that have led to the imposition of various travel restrictions and the cancelation of many college football games, including those in the Big Ten Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The priority of the Yankees, New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Big Ten and ACC is the safety of players, coaches and staff, and this decision is consistent with that approach,” the Yankees said. “We look forward to hosting the New Era Pinstripe Bowl with an enthusiastic crowd filling Yankee Stadium in 2021.”

The Pinstripe Bowl was established in 2010. Its last six contests have featured competitors from the Big Ten and ACC conferences. Michigan State defeated Wake Forest, 27-21, in the 2019 Pinstripe Bowl.
