Judge lands No. 1 Topps card in 2018 set

NEW YORK -- may have finished second to in the race for the American League Most Valuable Player Award, but as far as baseball card collectors are concerned, the Yankees phenom is No. 1.
Topps announced on Monday that Judge will be the No. 1 card in this year's Topps Baseball Series 1, as voted on by thousands of fans. Judge's selection was revealed on MLB Network, and the first packs are scheduled to hit stores on Wednesday.
"Aaron Judge transcended baseball during his record-breaking rookie season," said David Leiner, Topps' global general manager. "Fans from across the league were excited to see him play, so it comes as no surprise they voted for him to be Card No. 1 for this year's set. We are thrilled to add him to the list of great players that have been featured on the first card of the year."

Judge's card depicts him connecting for a deep drive against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, with the words "Future Stars" printed above his batting helmet.
The unanimous AL Rookie of the Year, Judge joins players such as Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Mike Piazza and Derek Jeter as those who have claimed Card No. 1. and were voted to the top spot the past two seasons, respectively, through an online vote.
