Yankees Acquire LHP Jaime García from Twins

The New York Yankees today announced that on Saturday, July 29, they acquired left-handed pitcher Jaime García and cash considerations from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns and right-handed pitcher Zack Littell.

The New York Yankees today announced that on Saturday, July 29, they acquired left-handed pitcher Jaime García and cash considerations from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns and right-handed pitcher Zack Littell.
 
García, 31, has combined with the Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins to go 5-7 with a 4.29 ERA (119.2IP, 57ER) in 19 starts this season.
 
Over nine Major League seasons with St. Louis (2008, 2010-16), Atlanta (2017) and Minnesota (2017), is 67-52 with a 3.65 ERA (1,015.2IP, 412ER) in 177 appearances (166 starts). The left-hander finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2010, finishing the season with the fourth-lowest ERA (2.70) in the National League. García made five postseason starts for the World Series Champion Cardinals in 2011 and posted a 1.80 ERA in two World Series starts (10.0IP, 2ER, 10K).
 
The Reynosa, Mexico, native was originally selected by the Cardinals in the 22nd round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft. García was acquired by Atlanta from St. Louis in exchange for right-handed pitchers John Gant and Chris Ellis and infielder Luke Dykstra on December 1, 2016. He was then acquired by the Twins from the Braves with catcher Anthony Recker and cash considerations in exchange for right-handed pitcher Huascar Ynoa on July 24, 2017.
 
García is eligible for free agency at the end of the 2017 season.
 
Enns, 26, was 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA (45.1IP, 10ER) in eight combined games (seven starts) with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the GCL Yankees East. Over six minor league seasons with the Yankees (2012-17), he went 27-14 with a 1.87 ERA (389.2IP, 81ER) in 110 games (50 starts). The Frankfort, Ill., native was selected by the Yankees in the 19th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. He was added to the club's 40-man roster on November 18, 2016.
 
Littell, 21, was 14-1 with a 1.87 ERA (115.1IP, 24ER) in 20 combined games (18 starts) with Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Over five minor seasons with Seattle (2013-16) and the Yankees (2017), is 35-24 with a 3.24 ERA (496.2IP, 179ER) in 92 games (86 starts). The Mebane, N.C. native was originally selected by the Mariners in the 11th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft and was acquired by the Yankees from Seattle in exchange for LHP James Pazos on November 18, 2016.
