Deivi Garcia turned in the performance of his career and combined with reliever Christian Morris to throw a no-hitter in Class A Advanced Tampa's 1-0 extra-innings loss to Clearwater in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Monday.

Garcia, the Yankees' No. 12 prospect, racked up 12 strikeouts over seven perfect innings in his longest pro start. He threw 82 pitches, 56 for strikes, in the outing, his second as a member of the Tarpons and first since his season debut on June 5.

Garcia's dozen strikeouts matched his career high, and he's now achieved the feat twice in his last three starts. Altogether, the live-armed 19-year-old right-hander has compiled 82 strikeouts against 13 walks in 52 1/3 innings this season across two levels. He's pitched to a 3.10 ERA in that span while holding hitters to a sub-.200 average.
Morris, a 24-year-old right-hander, replaced Garcia on the mound in extra innings and ultimately took the loss despite not allowing a hit. After beginning the eighth inning with placement runner Luke Williams on second base, the Threshers put runners on the corners when Tampa committed an infield error that ended its attempt at a combined perfect game. After a ground out, Daniel Brito (Phillies' No. 12) plated Williams on a fielder's choice to first base, giving Tampa the lead.
McKenzie Mills completed seven innings to record the win for Clearwater. The 22-year-old left-hander mixed three hits with one walk and four strikeouts in the outing. He also induced nine ground-ball outs, throwing 53 of his 85 pitches for strikes. Right-hander Alberto Tirado struck out one as part of a perfect eighth inning to secure the save.
