NEW YORK -- The Yankees placed right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right rotator cuff strain, with right-hander Chance Adams recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Loaisiga's place on the roster.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Loaisiga complained of discomfort on Monday and had an MRI, which revealed the strain. Loaisiga is the 17th Yankee to land on the injured list this year. The 24-year-old, who has a 4.50 ERA in four games (three starts), is not expected to throw for four weeks.

"Hopefully we've avoided something serious," Boone said. "I'm glad he came in and was able to say something. Hopefully we can get this treated the right way now."

Adams, 24, had a 4.80 ERA in six starts at Triple-A. He has been sharp in his last three outings, limiting opponents to three earned runs over 18 2/3 innings (1.45 ERA). Adams said he and pitching coach Tommy Phelps incorporated tweaks based on old video of the hurler's form when he was one of the club's top pitching prospects.

"Me and Tommy were working on some mechanical things that I might have gotten away from, so I just tweaked those," Adams said. "My slider has been more of a competitive pitch. I haven't been missing so far out, so that's been different."
