Logan reports no issues after bullpen session

TORONTO -- Left-hander Boone Logan, who was diagnosed with a bone spur in his elbow by Dr. James Andrews on Monday, threw a 30-pitch bullpen session at Rogers Centre on Wednesday and came out of it feeling fine.

Logan reported no issues with his elbow and intends to be game ready for Friday's series opener against the Giants. Manager Joe Girardi first wants to see how Logan feels Thursday before clearing him to play, but is optimistic he will get his valuable reliever back.

"My hope is yes," Girardi said. "If he feels good [Thursday], I would say he is a player for us Friday."

Logan told reporters Tuesday that while the bone spur has been bothering him all season, it was something he could pitch through. Andrews reviewed a team MRI and performed a CT scan and informed Logan, who has not pitched since Sept. 6, that he would not do any further damage to his elbow if he continued to throw.

In 60 appearances this season, Logan is 5-2 with a 3.26 ERA. Joel Peralta of the Rays is the only American League reliever who has made more appearances over the last two seasons than Logan's mark of 140.
