Yankee Stadium hosts a premier college football matchup this weekend as the Shamrock Series featuring No. 3-ranked Notre Dame (10-0) vs. No. 12-ranked Syracuse (8-2) takes place on Saturday, November 17, at 2:30 p.m. The game will be nationally televised by NBC.
Stadium Gates 6 and 8, along with the Suite entrance, will open to ticketholders at noon. All other Stadium Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. 
Saturday's game marks the highest-ranked matchup of college football teams in New York City since Oct. 11, 1947, when No. 5 Army and No. 6 Illinois played to a 0-0 tie at the original Yankee Stadium. It also marks the first time a top-20 ranked Notre Dame team has played in New York City since Frank Leahy's No. 2 Notre Dame squad fought to a 0-0 tie against No. 1 Army on November 9, 1946, in front of 74,000 fans at the original Yankee Stadium. That game featured four eventual Heisman Trophy winners with Army's Doc Blanchard (1945) and Glenn Davis (1946), along with Notre Dame's Johnny Lujack (1947) and Leon Hart (1949).

Being able to hold a game such as this represents the continued fulfillment of our vision of Yankee Stadium as a preeminent venue for marquee college football."
The Notre Dame-Syracuse matchup at Yankee Stadium will mark the ninth installment of the Shamrock Series, an event in which the Irish play a scheduled home game at a neutral site. In addition to the game, the weekend features various off-the-field events aimed at bringing the full Notre Dame campus fan experience on the road to cities around the country. Presentations by University faculty and researchers, a celebration of the Holy Mass and a community service project are planned leading up to kickoff.
Additionally, fans can enjoy performances by the Notre Dame Marching Band on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Bryant Park and on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Macombs Dam Park adjacent to Yankee Stadium.
Notre Dame and Syracuse will each be making their third appearances at the current Yankee Stadium.
The Fighting Irish appeared in the current Stadium's first college football game on November 20, 2010, defeating Army, 27-3, in front of the Stadium's largest-ever crowd of 54,251. Notre Dame was also victorious in the 2013 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, topping Rutgers, 29-16.
The Orange are two-time New Era Pinstripe Bowl champions, defeating Kansas State, 36-34, in the inaugural 2010 contest and besting West Virginia, 38-14, in 2012.
Notre Dame and Syracuse have played on eight previous occasions all time, with the Irish leading the series, 5-3. One of the meetings took place at the original Yankee Stadium -- a 14-7 Syracuse win on Thanksgiving Day in 1963. In the most recent game between the teams, Notre Dame won, 50-33, on Oct. 1, 2016, at a neutral site.
