Yankees acquire LHP Chris Capuano

The New York Yankees today announced they have acquired LHP Chris Capuano from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for cash considerations.

Capuano, 35, was signed as a free agent by the Rockies on July 4, and made four combined starts with Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs, posting a 1-0 record with a 2.79 ERA (19.1IP, 16H, 6ER, 5BB, 21K, 2HR). Earlier this year, he went 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA (31.2IP, 34H, 16ER, 15BB, 29K, 3HR) in 28 relief appearances with Boston before being released on July 1.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, Springfield, Mass., native is 74-84 with a 4.28 ERA (1,299.1IP, 1,339H, 618ER, 407BB, 1,079K) in 266 games (209 starts) over 10 Major League seasons with Arizona (2003), Milwaukee (2004-07, '10), New York-NL (2011), Los Angeles-NL (2012-13) and Boston (2014). Originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the eighth round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft, he went 18-12 with a 3.99 ERA (219.0IP, 212H, 97ER, 91BB, 176K) in 35 starts in 2005, setting career highs in wins, starts and strikeouts. In 2006, he was named to the National League All-Star team but did not appear in the game.
