Shreve progressing, nearing rehab assignment

June 5th, 2016

BALTIMORE -- Yankees reliever Chasen Shreve continues to progress from a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder that landed him on the 15-day disabled list May 26.
Shreve threw for the third straight day Saturday, tossing 12 fastballs on flat ground. He is expected to take a day off Sunday and long toss Monday.
"No pain, no nothing," Shreve said, "so it's good."
Manager Joe Girardi said that Shreve will likely head to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for a rehab assignment before returning to the Yankees' bullpen.
Shreve is 1-1 with a 5.21 ERA in 19 appearances this season. The left-hander has allowed seven home runs in 19 innings.
