The Yankees agreed to terms with shortstop Didi Gregorius, right-hander Michael Pineda and catcher Austin Romine on Friday, avoiding arbitration, according to reports from MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.
Gregorius settled for $5.1 million, Pineda settled for $7.4 million and Romine settled for $805,000, per Heyman. The club has not confirmed the reports.
The Yankees also agreed to terms with outfielder Aaron Hicks, lefty Tommy Layne and righty Adam Warren on one-year, non-guaranteed contracts, thus avoiding arbitration.
Gregorius, who took over at shortstop in the Bronx after Derek Jeter's retirement, had the best year of his career in 2016. The 26-year-old hit .276/.304/.447 with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs in 153 games for New York in his second season with the team.
Pineda had an up-and-down season for the Yankees. He was in New York's starting rotation all season, but in his 32 starts, he went 6-12 with a career-worst 4.82 ERA. On the other hand, the 27-year-old also struck out 207 batters, 11th-most in the Majors.
The 28-year-old Romine, in his fifth season with the Yankees, hit .242/.269/.382 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 62 games while backing up Brian McCann and then Gary Sanchez.
