The New York Yankees will return home to Yankee Stadium on Friday for a six-game homestand. The homestand will feature three games from Fri., June 29 - Sun., July 1 vs. the Boston Red Sox, and three Interleague games from Mon., July 2 - Wed., July 4 vs. the Atlanta Braves.
The division rival Red Sox will visit the Bronx for the second time this season, and heading into the weekend the clubs have the two best winning percentages in Major League Baseball. In an effort to provide fans with increased opportunities to watch the Yankees take batting practice, Gates 6 and 8 will open at 4:00 p.m. on Fri., June 29 and Sat., June 30. Guests entering the park at that time will be able to view batting practice from the Bleachers and 100 Level outfield sections of the Stadium. Fans should note that Sunday's game has an 8:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch time.
In Interleague action, the Braves will be making their first trip to the Bronx since 2012. The two teams will round out the homestand with a 1:00 p.m. Fourth of July Game. To help celebrate Independence Day, the Colors will be presented by the West Point United States Army Garrison Color Guard and the anthem will be sung by United States Military Academy Band Vocalist Master Sergeant Mary Kay Messenger. As part of the Yankees' Field of Dreams program, children from TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) who have lost a parent in combat will take the field with the Yankees for the anthem. Along with all Major League clubs, the Yankees will don patriotic stars-and-stripes uniforms to celebrate the holiday.
In a pregame ceremony on Monday, July 2, right-handed reliever David Robertson will be recognized as the Yankees' nominee for the 2018 Bob Feller Act of Valor Award. The honor is given annually to an active Major Leaguer that demonstrates the integrity and values possessed by Feller, who served the country during World War II and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1962.
Ticket specials will run on Monday, July 2 (Military Personnel/Mastercard $5 Game), Tuesday, July 3 (Military Personnel Game) and Wednesday, July 4 (Senior Citizen/Student/Youth/Military Personnel Game).
