Miami brought up a fresh arm after a 10-inning game on May 18 and with righty Sixto Sánchez, who hasn't thrown more than 4 2/3 innings, on the mound. Maldonado, ranked as Miami's No. 20 prospect, had tossed two scoreless innings on May 18. Ramirez threw 3 1/3 scoreless frames across three outings in his first stint with the Marlins this season.

10-day/15-day injured list

IF (lower back soreness)
Expected return: Tuesday
Anderson was back in Miami working out with the club on May 20 after playing two games for Triple-A Jacksonville from May 18-19. Anderson missed two games with the back issue before he landed on the IL on May 13, retroactive to May 11.

"Obviously the 10 days are up [Monday], so we'll see how he feels [Tuesday]," manager Skip Schumaker said. (Last updated: May 20)

RHP (right shoulder impingement)
Expected return: TBD
According to manager Skip Schumaker, the club is still evaluating Cabrera after he threw a bullpen in Jupiter, Fla., on May 17. He is with the club in Miami.

"[We're] trying to figure out how to get him over the hump, and it hasn't happened yet," Schumaker said. "So we're trying to figure out exactly what it is to get him to the next step."

Cabrera had progressed to playing catch on May 13 after he received an injection on May 8 that relieved the pain. Cabrera began the season on the injured list with the same diagnosis, and he also missed a month of the 2023 season with it. Following his 58-pitch start on May 7, the Marlins initially thought it could be a biceps issue. (Last updated: May 20)

RHP (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: Within two weeks
Hoeing is scheduled to throw 1-2 innings or 30 pitches for Triple-A Jacksonville on May 21. Hoeing first tweaked his hamstring during Spring Training, but he pitched through it. His stint on the injured list is retroactive to May 2. (Last updated: May 20)

OF (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: June
García is completing full baseball activities and is working on strength and running. He hasn’t appeared in a game since April 27 after feeling discomfort in the area a few days earlier. This marks the third straight season García has landed on the IL with a left hamstring strain. (Last updated: May 20)

60-day injured list

INF/OF (left foot infection)
Expected return: June
Edwards, who began a rehab assignment May 18-19 with Triple-A Jacksonville, will start at shortstop on May 21 for the Jumbo Shrimp. He had not appeared in a game since March 5. Miami transferred Edwards, who opened the season on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to March 25), to the 60-day IL on May 7. (Last updated: May 20)

RHP (neck spasms)
Expected return: June
Chargois is scheduled to throw one inning or 25 pitches for Triple-A Jacksonville on May 21. He previously appeared in a Florida Complex League intrasquad game on May 17, going one inning or 20 pitches. Chargois hadn't seen game action since April 26 with Triple-A Jacksonville, where he sustained a setback and underwent subsequent tests on his neck.

Chargois first experienced the neck spasms on Feb. 23, and he saw his velocity max out at 92.6 mph -- much lower than his average fastball velo of 96.2 mph in 2023 -- during his Grapefruit League debut on March 12. (Last updated: May 20)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Alcantara, who has been playing catch off and on, is continuing his rehab while with the team in Miami. He initially felt the discomfort on the 94th and final pitch of his Sept. 3 start against the Nationals and was diagnosed with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI later revealed a right UCL sprain. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 21, but shut himself down after experiencing forearm tightness. (Last updated: May 10)

RHP (right UCL tear)
Expected return:
2025
Pérez, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), is rehabbing in Miami. Pérez had Tommy John surgery on April 8 after experiencing soreness in his bullpen session on April 2. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 4.

Pérez's recurring nail issue had forced him to exit for precautionary reasons after just 14 pitches on March 13 -- but the bigger issue came the following morning when he reported feeling soreness in his right elbow. (Last updated: May 10)

LHP (left elbow ulnar neuritis)
Expected return: Post-All-Star break
Simpson, who underwent surgery for left elbow ulnar neuritis on April 23, is rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla. He is expected back after the All-Star break. Simpson had tossed one inning for Single-A Jupiter on April 6 after previously completing one inning and 25 pitches in an extended spring game on April 2 before experiencing a setback.

Simpson, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), didn't pitch in a Grapefruit League game after his Feb. 27 outing because he began to feel discomfort. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 20. (Last updated: May 10)
