Olivares set career highs at the big league level in 2022 in games (53), hits (46), doubles (8), RBI (15) and walks (10), but missed a combined 96 games over two stints on the Injured List. .. He made the Opening Day roster for the second time (also, 2020 with San Diego), and through May 9, when he first landed on the IL, Olivares slashed .371/.421/.486 (13-for-35)... Olivares recorded a career-best four hits—including two doubles—in a 7-1 win vs. St. Louis on May 3... In his first game back from the IL, on June 24 vs. Oakland, Olivares recorded his first career multi-homer game, extending his career-best hit streak (which began before his stint on the IL) to nine games…later in the season, he matched that with another nine-game hit streak, which was also fragmented due to an IL stint... Both of his homers on June 24, 2022 gave Kansas City a lead, making him the first Royal to record two go-ahead HR in the same game at Kauffman Stadium since Kendrys Morales on June 26, 2016 vs. Houston... Olivares played in 21 games with Triple-A Omaha over two rehab assignments.

Spent the majority of the season with Lansing (A) while also spending time with Dunedin (A), logged 231 total bases, 27 doubles, 17 HR, 72 RBI and 93 runs scored...Hit safely in a then-career-high 12 consecutive games from May 31-June 15 (.317) with 6 HR, homering in back-to-back games on May 31 and June 1 and in 3 straight for the 1st time in his career from June 9-11...Earned Midwest League Player of the Week honors for the week of July 9...Following the season, he was acquired by the SD along with RHP Jared Carkuff in exchange for INF Yangervis Solarte on January 6.
