Brian McCann accidentally hinted at the Braves' signing of Josh Donaldson

Brian McCann officially returned to the Braves on Monday by signing a one-year contract that brought him back to Atlanta for the first time since 2013. The team held a press conference with McCann and general manager Alex Anthopoulos, and the catcher was so excited about rejoining his old club that he let slip a rumor that had been making its way around the news that afternoon -- namely, that free agent Josh Donaldson would also be joining the Braves.
As seen in the video above, McCann was talking about the Braves' powerful young core of players led by Ronald Acuña Jr. when he segued into still-unofficial news. (The team later confirmed it.)
"You see these guys come up and be impact players, so that allows a team to, you know, get a Donaldson," he said. "That's how you win championships."
Almost immediately, McCann realized that he probably got a bit overzealous. "I don't know if I'm supposed to say that," he laughed. "I just read it on Twitter."
"Never believe Twitter!" cracked Anthopoulos.
With a bat like Donaldson's potentially joining the mix with McCann, why wouldn't the veteran be thrilled?

Maybe McCann has a future as an MLB insider. You never know.
