Carlos Gomez supercharged his eyeballs with some plastic cup goggles

A ballplayer's eyeballs are his most precious resource. Rogers Hornsby famously wouldn't watch movies to avoid putting strain on his eyes. The Rays' Carlos Gomez has his own method to reduce eye strain: Wear cup goggles. 
He debuted his scientific discovery in the fourth inning of Saturday's 5-3 win against the Blue Jays. Rather than squint and tire out his eyes while following the action, he allowed the Focal Oculators (TM-pending) to HyperActivate (TM-pending) his Viewing Spectrum (TM-pending):

As for why the cup atop the head? That's easy: Aliens.
