Chris Davis is a large, strong man -- which helps in his ability to hit balls a really long way. That's a positive result. That's good. We like dingers.
But being a man of such a large, strong nature also works in a different way when he strikes out. Like in the bottom of the seventh of Thursday's Reds-Orioles game, when he went down swinging and put his bat on the eternal disabled list:

Although it's the first such occurence of the 2017 season, it's definitely been done before. One man comes to mind.
The O's ended up winning, 2-1, and fortunately, no other bats were harmed in the process.
