When Jason Heyward stepped up to the plate during the bottom of the fourth inning Thursday night against the Rockies, he hit a ball hard down the left side of the field. The ball went foul, and it seemed like everyone but the Cubs knew that, including the fans.
Ben Zobrist sprinted to cross home plate as Rockies left fielder Ian Desmond casually scooped up the ball. Desmond knew the ball was no longer in play, but the fans standing alongside foul territory signaled the ball was indeed still fair.

Heyward was already mid-sprint when he decided he would slow down a bit, take a lap around the bases and jog back to the batter's box to resume his at-bat.
