From throwing unhittable pitches to hitting a homer, Jacob deGrom was just unfair against the Marlins

Jacob deGrom has been pitching like a man on a mission thus far this season. After signing a big extension with the Mets prior to Opening Day, the right-hander and reigning NL Cy Young Award winner has been absolutely dominant both times out.

To say deGrom "had it all going on" for his start Wednesday night against the Marlins wouldn't quite do justice to the display he put on at Marlins Park.

deGrom dazzled for seven shutout innings on the mound, racking up 14 strikeouts and throwing 99-mph fastballs and disappearing offspeed pitches en route to his 26th consecutive quality start, tying Bob Gibson for the all-time Major League record. By the way, is this a cutter or a slider? It's much too devastating a pitch to know for sure.

For good measure, deGrom helped his own cause by connecting on an offering from Trevor Richards and depositing it 383 feet into right field for his second career homer. And it wasn't a cheap shot, either.

Do you see how excited Keon Broxton was to see that from the Mets dugout?

Broxton's enthusiasm is understandable. deGrom's just living his best life right now, and it's a lot of fun to watch.
