There are a few things that let us know that baseball season has officially returned: the blue sky and green grass, the pageantry of Opening Day, the ability to wear your baseball cap anywhere and everywhere. And then, of course, there's the lighting of the Empire State Building, a shining beacon letting everyone know that Major League Baseball is back.
This year, though, one of New York's most iconic buildings went even bigger than usual, celebrating all 30 MLB teams between 1 and 1:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday morning. Highlights included:
The hometown Yankees -- complete with pinstripes, of course -- and Mets:
The Cubs, in classic red and blue:
The Rockies, preparing their finest Prince tribute:
The Nationals, looking either suitably patriotic or remarkably like a Rocket Pop, depending on your point of view:
The Giants, preparing for Halloween:
The Mariners, whose teal remains one of the best colors in baseball:
And, last but not least, the A's, making us wish that more teams wore green:
If you don't see your favorite team here, don't worry -- you can see them up in lights by watching the clip above, checking out the full gallery here or reading @MLB's thread.
