Ivan Nova threw his glove to first to get an out after a comebacker got caught in the webbing

Not all grounders produce plays you expect. Iván Nova can attest to that after what happened to him on Friday night against the Padres.
Freddy Galvis led off against Nova in the top of the fifth and bounced a seemingly routine comebacker to the pitcher's mound. Nova reached into his glove to get the ball and throw it to Josh Bell at first, but there was a bit of a problem -- it was stuck.
So, off went the entire glove:

Never in doubt, right?

Exactly.
The likes of Terry Mulholland and El Duque would be proud of Nova's ingenuity. At least it didn't get stuck in his jersey.
