Getting a base hit generally entails sending a baseball out of the reach of an infielder or outfielder. Hitting it to the left, to the right, above or below their gloves. But in the first inning of Thursday's Blue Jays-Orioles game, Baltimore cult hero Joey Rickard decided to ignore these basic baseball norms and simply blast a single THROUGH Josh Donaldson's glove:

Nice try, leather.

Statcast measured the line drive at 91 mph. Our best wishes are with Donaldson's mitt for a speedy recovery.
