And now, a pitch for a Broadway musical titled 'The Pittsburgh Pirates of Penzance' based off this photo

I don't remember much about acting in "The Pirates of Penzance" in grade school, though I do remember that I played the character Samuel. I recall having a few lines, maybe, and taking part in some background dancing and/or "ensemble" singing, but definitely nothing major.

With this distinguished acting role the highlight of my career on the stage, I hereby submit the following recommendation for whomever makes these sorts of decisions: Let's get a baseball-themed "Pirates of Penzance" stage adaptation in the works, OK?

If you're wondering what sparked this admittedly bizarre request, it is not because I am the very model of a modern major general. I don't even know what that phrase means. No, the inspiration comes from this photo, from the Pirates' win over the Reds on Friday night:

I don't personally have any idea if Pablo Reyes knows his way around the stage. He might not have any acting experience. But with hops like that, I'm sure we can make it work. He has a gift, and there's no doubt in my mind it would carry over effectively.

Plus, this is a guy from a team called the Pirates doing a Broadway lunge and smiling, wide, as if he's hamming it up for the audience. Plus, the excitement -- that's real emotion. You can't fake that.

Somebody get on this, OK? I think it's a great idea.
