The Pirates had to wake prospect Taylor Hearn up to inform him that he'd been traded

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, reports began to surface that the Pirates had acquired Rangers closer Keone Kela in exchange for two Minor Leaguers. As for just who those Minor Leaguers were, though ... well, no one was quite sure.
We initially thought that the pair were simply players to be named later, but as the night wore on, we got an even better explanation: Pittsburgh knew which players it was giving up, but it hadn't been able to wake them up and notify them yet.

Finally, the identity of at least one of the pieces was revealed: lefty Taylor Hearn, the Pirates' No. 7 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and an excellent sleeper.

In Hearn's defense, this all went down at 2 or 3 in the morning, so the fact that he wasn't up and/or on Twitter is really just a sign of a healthy lifestyle.
