Pope Francis received a Cubs hat and autographed baseball from Chicago's archbishop

Ten different popes led the Catholic Church during the Cubs' 108-year championship drought. It's unclear if St. Pius X ever acknowledged Chicago's 1908 title -- although he did meet the White Sox and New York Giants during the winter of 1914 -- but we have visual proof that the Cubs' win over the Indians two weeks ago has caught the attention of the Vatican's current resident:

That's Chicago's Archbishop Blase Cupich, who's in Rome to be elevated to the rank of Cardinal on Saturday. Naturally, Cupich -- who announced Cubs' postseason victories during mass throughout October -- brought a Cubs hat and autographed baseball as gifts for Pope Francis, as any proud Chicagoan would. For what it's worth, the Pope looks pretty pleased with his new swag.
In terms of Cupich's new title, though -- we just hope he doesn't have to switch allegiances to the Cubs' NL Central rivals in St. Louis.
