A Red Sox fan came face-to-face with the agony of misplaying a foul ball

As we've seen time and time again this season, some fans experience a moment in the limelight after making incredible plays on foul balls. Some do so while Snapchatting, others by reaching over to protect a loved one. Some even catch home runs while holding small children.
It's important to remember these highs, because there are definitely lows -- like one Red Sox fan found out in Monday's 12-5 win over the Rangers at Fenway Park.
Adrian Beltre smacked a ball high and foul along the right-field line, where it sailed toward a fan in some upper box seats. Despite his focus and determination, it just wasn't meant to be … even though he had a second chance on a bounce. Instead, the ball tumbled down toward the stands below, taking his hopes and dreams with it:
MLB.com Real-Time Correspondent Mimi Murad did some investigating and tracked down this fan after his moment in the sun. His name is Scott Lavallee, a resident of Sturbridge, Mass., a roughly 55-mile drive from Boston. Lavallee and his family make the trek to Fenway two times per season, so at least one of his visits this summer now has a highlight video associated with it.
Here's hoping his next trip to the highlight reels has a happier ending ...
