Sean Doolittle, ballpark transportation guru, is now the second pitcher to use the D-backs' bullpen cart

Just last week, Astros right-hander Collin McHughbecame the first pitcher to use the D-backs' shiny new bullpen cart -- a concept we're quite excited about around here, and something you should be excited about, too.
Also excited about the bullpen cart? Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle. This should come as no surprise to anyone who pays attention to the lefty's forays into essay writing over the years. He's a proponent of cart use, and backed up that sentiment in the Nats' 2-1 win over Arizona on Thursday night.
With Washington holding a 2-1 lead, 'Doo opted to ride into the game for a save situation in style -- in the passenger's seat of the bullpen cart.

This runs in stark contrast to how McHugh opted to take his ride into the mound ... from the back of the cart:

Hey, whatever works.
Doolittle then promptly nailed down the save, presumably having rested on the ride in from beyond the outfield fence instead of running, jogging or expending calories walking the entire way.
"They had asked before the game if there were any relievers interested in taking the cart," Doolittle told MLB.com's Jack Magruder after the game. "I was like, yeah, I think I'm going to do it.
"After standing up there [in the bullpen] for so long, I'm definitely taking the cart. I'm not running in. It was great, especially here, where it is a little warm. For me, controlling my breath and controlling my energy is so important. When you run in from a bullpen … here is not a far run. Some places are worse than others.
"There is a practical thing to it. People are making a big deal out of it. Why would I not conserve my energy before going into a game in the biggest moment? I've been advocating for bullpen carts for a few years. I think they are a good idea. I think there is a practical application for them. So I had an opportunity to try it out, and I think I was great."
