When Alexander Ovechkin finally won the Stanley Cup in 2018 with the Capitals after over a decade of failed attempts, he went on a now-legendary journey with the iconic trophy. It's seen many uses over the years, from beverage holder to flower pot to accidental diaper (yes, really).

So, when the cup stopped by Oracle Park on Friday for a promotional appearance, it wasn't out of the ordinary for the Giants to find an innovative new role for the trophy. Turns out, it makes a helpful bucket for pitchers throwing batting practice:

Unusual, but we like it. It's certainly tall enough to make it easy on whoever's pitching.

Maybe if the nearby Sharks end up making the Stanley Cup Finals and winning, it can make a return appearance under even more glorious circumstances. We know both sides would dig it.
