The Nationals celebrated National Cabbage Day with a Spring Training cabbage race

Turning workouts into games or competitions is a surefire way to make an otherwise dull or unpleasant activity more fun. This works great when you're coaching a tee-ball squad or even teenagers. 
It turns out that playing games is an effective way to raise morale among Major League athletes as well. On Sunday, the Nationals got their camp started with a race that involved passing a head of cabbage down the line:

As MLB.com's Jamal Collier pointed out, the race was held in celebration of National Cabbage Day, a holiday celebrated all across the land. Hopefully Max Scherzer's winning team has a chance to make some cole slaw to celebrate its victory.
