11 stats and facts as 2026 All-Star Game rosters are revealed
It’ll be an outstanding group as always on the field for the All-Star Game this year, next Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. By definition, the All-Star Game always puts the game’s top players on display, of course, and this year is no exception. With full All-Star rosters announced on Saturday, it’s time to dig into the relevant context.
Here are 11 stats & facts about the 2026 All-Star rosters.
• The Dodgers, Phillies and Braves lead the way with five All-Stars each. It’s the seventh straight All-Star team with at least five Dodgers reps. That’s tied with the 1942-49 Cardinals for the third-longest such streak, per Elias. They trail only the 1956-65 Yankees (10) and 1936-43 Yankees (eight).
• The Dodgers’ five includes Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Andy Pages and Shohei Ohtani, plus Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the pitching roster. This will be the third time the Dodgers have four players starting the All-Star Game, tying a franchise record, joining 1980, when they also had also four non-pitchers (Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell, Reggie Smith) and 1974 (Ron Cey, Garvey, Andy Messersmith, Jim Wynn).

• The host Phillies have five All-Stars in starter Brandon Marsh, plus Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Jhoan Duran and Cristopher Sánchez. It’s the eighth time the Phillies have had at least five All-Stars, and the second time in three years, after they had a franchise-record eight in 2024. Marsh will be the first Phillies outfielder to start the All-Star Game since 2009, when Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino did so.
• The Braves’ five include starters Ozzie Albies and Drake Baldwin, plus Matt Olson, Chris Sale and Raisel Iglesias. It’s the 18th time the Braves have had at least five All-Stars and first time since a franchise-record eight in 2023.
• At 23 years and eight days a week from Monday, Junior Caminero will try to become the youngest player to win the Home Run Derby. The next night, he’ll be the American League's starting third baseman in the All-Star Game. Caminero, who also started last year, will be the youngest player at the time of his second career third base All-Star start. Caminero will be the 13th player to start the Midsummer Classic in multiple seasons at that age or younger, joining Al Kaline (three), Ken Griffey Jr. (three), Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson, Rod Carew, Johnny Bench, Ivan Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout. We don’t usually take note of or list out a group that goes 12 players deep. But when those are the names, we absolutely do.
• Speaking of long, notable lists, let’s talk about Trout. This is Trout’s 11th time winning a fan vote, tied with George Brett, Tony Gwynn, Reggie Jackson and Mike Piazza for eighth-most since voting returned to the fans in 1970. He trails Cal Ripken Jr. (17), Rod Carew (15), Ken Griffey Jr. (13), Barry Bonds (12), Alex Rodriguez (12), Ivan Rodriguez (12), Ozzie Smith (12). It will be Trout’s seventh All-Star start, three more than anyone else in Angels history. It’s his 12th season on the All-Star roster, six more than anyone else in franchise history.
• Juan Soto is 27. He’s now an All-Star for a fourth different team, the Mets, after previously representing the Nationals, Padres and Yankees. He’s the youngest player to make an All-Star team for a fourth franchise, per Elias. No player had even made it for a fourth team before turning 31. Soto will be the first Mets outfielder to start the All-Star Game since Carlos Beltrán in 2007.
• Paul Skenes is an All-Star for the third time in just his third MLB season. He’s the eighth player to make the All-Star team in each of his first three MLB seasons, joining Yu Darvish, Evan Longoria, Ichiro Suzuki, Dwight Gooden, Rod Carew, Tom Seaver and Joe DiMaggio.
• Speaking of pitchers, we won’t know who is starting on the mound until workout day on that Monday, but we know Phillies fans are already eager for context in case their own Cristopher Sánchez gets the nod. Seven pitchers have started the All-Star Game in their home ballpark in the expansion era (1961). They are 2022 Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers), 2018 Max Scherzer (Nationals), 2013 Matt Harvey (Mets), 2004 Roger Clemens (Astros), 2003 Esteban Loaiza (White Sox), 1999 Pedro Martínez (Red Sox) and 1982 Steve Rogers (Expos).
• And if Cam Schlittler starts for the AL? Again, we won’t know for more than a week, but if you were curious, Yankees pitchers have started 20 All-Star Games, the most of any team. At 25 years and 159 days, Schlittler would be the second-youngest Yankees pitcher to start the All-Star Game, older than only Lefty Gomez (24 years, 222 days) in the first Midsummer Classic in 1933.
• There are four rookies on the rosters: Kevin McGonigle, Sal Stewart and the teammate duo of Travis Bazzana and Parker Messick. The Guardians are just the fifth team to have multiple rookie All-Stars in a season, per Elias. They join the 2014 Yankees (Dellin Betances and Masahiro Tanaka), 2008 Cubs (Kosuke Fukudome and Geovany Soto), 1960 Orioles (Chuck Estrada, Jim Gentile and Ron Hansen) and 1951 White Sox (Jim Busby and Minnie Minoso).
